About Me

I first fell in love with pottery while taking a ceramics class in high school. The love of creating clay forms helped me make the decision to be a professional artist. I was accepted at The New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University based on my portfolio work. After leaving school I traveled around the country in a 1971 Pinto with extended stays in New York, Virginia, Wisconsin and Birmingham. I eventually settled in Atlanta, GA where I took a hiatus from pottery to pursue my love of technology and study Web site design and development.  In 2008 I returned to the wheel to get "back down to Earth.” After 13 years of working in Atlanta I packed up my studio (partner and dogs) and made a new home and studio Portland, OR. My award-winning works have been shown in juried shows in the New York , Atlanta, and Macon, GA Metro areas including Fired Works and the Inman Park Festival.  This on-line gallery is a place to view and purchase my works. I hope that you will enjoy them too.

Client Testimonials

  • The mug arrived well packed, on time and in perfect shape. The mug is even more beautiful in hand than in the photo. It was a present and has become the favorite mug for drinking beer. He particularly likes the way the lacing shows against the interior glaze.
    Well done, Lori!

  • I love this tea cup! Fabulous color shadings; a wonderful dragon; it fits perfectly in my hand. it has a textured ring around the bottom side to help keep the tea bowl from slipping on a counter or table. A lot of work went into this pottery to get such perfect symmetry. this would make an excellent gift, but i am keeping this one for myself. thanks ever so much Lori! p.s. the packaging was superb. I'll be back.

  • Thank you for a great workshop today. This is a great technique you've developed, and I really like the line quality. I'll experiment more with background colors, and I have some raku ideas in mind for the image area.

Thanks again, Lori! I always enjoy your classes.

  • Again, we are so grateful for your guidance and support during classes with us. We set up the wheel and cleaned (almost) everything. We can't wait to dive deeper into this art form and see where it takes us.

  • Thanks Lori - what a fun class last night! Nice way you incorporated pinch, coil and slab in one lesson for beginners - along with it being a good project for those with more clay experience.
